A belated birthday gift I made myself for christmas was taking my birthday voucher for a bookstore and get a rather special book. You might know that I've developed a passion for baking intricate things last year (last year, it's already 2012! Weird!). And so I treated myself to this book:
"Der Gugl" is a miniature "Guglhupf", and is sold in delikatessen shops for big money. This book comes with recipes for these "cake pralinés", and also a silicone baking tray – in pink!
I've tried my first recipe already, chocolate & red wine Gugls. And they were so delicious! Going to make another batch today because I have to many left of the ingredients (18 little tiny cakes don't need much of any ingredient). Aren't they lovely? Of course, not perfect yet (why those little holes?), but I'm working on it. ;)
